ioGAS Fundamentals – 1/2 Day Morning

This course is designed to get you up and running using ioGAS. It does not assume any prior knowledge of geochemical analysis software, but requires an understanding of general geochemical concepts and terminology.

Topics covered include: Data import; data validation; univariate plots; data levelling; gridding; line plots; multivariate plots; plot enhancements; diagrams and analysis tools.

Advanced Techniques in ioGAS – 1/2 Day Afternoon

This course is designed for people who have previously undertaken the ioGAS Fundamentals course or have been using the basic functionality of the software for some time.

Topics covered include: Multiple data levelling; ranked variable mapping; outlier mapping; RGB element zonation; creating your own diagrams; univariate and multivariate regression analysis, M-distance calculations and principal components analysis.

Locations

Canada:  3rd Floor Meeting room, 1188 West Georgia St, Vancouver, BC

Australia:  Level 2, 369 Newcastle Street, Northbridge, Western Australia 6003

Dates

Currently available courses include:

Getting started with ioGAS (2 hrs): Designed to quickly get you up and running with ioGAS. Appropriate for new and current users to learn how to get data into ioGAS, the basic ioGAS workflow, how to create plots, make selections and save and export your own attributes.

Data Doctor and data validation (1 hr): Learn how to use tools within ioGAS to assess and validate your data before interpreting.  Functionality covered includes the data doctor tool, frequency tables and probability plots as well as information about problem data issues to look out for.

Plotting data in ioGAS (1 hr): Focuses on plotting univariate and multivariate data including histograms, probability plots, XY plots, line plots, 3D spatial plots and spider plots.

Levelling and gridding (1 hr): Gain an understanding of the various methods available for levelling data, multiple levelling of a dataset and gridding techniques to determine if levelling is required or as a validation tool for the levelled data.

Diagrams available in ioGAS (1 hr): Overview session of the diagrams provided in ioGAS ranging from rock classification to Pearce element ratios and alteration vectoring.

Enhanced plotting and diagrams (1 hr): Study advanced ioGAS techniques applicable to a range of plots and diagrams including dynamic histograms, plot linking, generating data density contours, displaying mineral nodes, modifying provided diagrams and creating your own diagrams.

Advanced mapping (1 hr): Focuses on ranked variable mapping, gridding, RGB element zonation and outlier mapping.

Multivariate analysis (1 hr): Learn about analytical techniques appropriate when working with multivariate data including regression analysis, M-distance calculations, and principal components analysis (PCA).

Tips and Tricks in ioGAS (1 hr): Help streamline your work in ioGAS by creating custom colour maps/legends, using different window options, exporting data subsets, mineral nodes and lines, accessing more memory using different ioGAS exes, adding labels, dynamic summary statistics, locking axes, calculations, external window, changing aliased elements plus more.

ioGAS for Geometallurgy (1 hr): Covers multi-variate techniques such as robust regressions and principal components analysis (PCA) and how they can be applied to geometallurgical applications.

Custom Training

Customised training in the use of ioGAS software for various geochemical applications is available using the expertise of ioGlobal’s team of Geochemists.  A variety of custom training courses covering any of the material listed on the website can be created to suit individual needs.  Training can be delivered as online training, at an ioGlobal office or at a company office or site and can include working with your own datasets.

In addition to ioGAS specific training, ioGlobal can also deliver a combination of applied geochemistry training and the use of ioGAS as part of an exploratory data analysis workflow tailored to client-specific needs.  Applied geochemistry training can be undertaken as a combination of theory and case study examples from a wide range of topics including pathfinder associations; primary and secondary dispersion; partial leaches; surface sampling strategies; QAQC; lithogeochemistry theory and application, geometallurgy and target identification.

As a geochemical consulting business, ioGeochemistry can also undertake consulting work in conjunction with training and work alongside company geologists to determine appropriate methodologies for analysing their data.

Contact us today to discuss how we can customise your training requirements.
